A London lockdown Christmas
I love winter. I love the long nights and city lights. I love that it gets dark early and stays dark long into the late morning. I’ve never come across anyone who has ever agreed with me (!) but there is something so magical about the night. Especially dusk. It feels as if anything is possible; it’s the gestation period before sunrise, before a new day and a new life.
Every Christmas I love visiting the same landmarks in London to soak in the festive spirit. This year it was different; a humdrum of activity hanging onto its last life before another lockdown came into play. My highlight was the winter diamond forest at Scott’s designed by luxury jewellery couture house Bulgari; I regrettably missed the crystal Christmas tree at Claridges, a hotel which always has the most spectacular Christmas tree. (On a side note, Scott’s is a London restaurant definitely worth visiting; the food is good enough (the starters were better than the mains) but the vibe is so lush.)
Below, an edited perspective on about town in London, followed by a very festive Peggy Porschen afternoon tea at The Lanesborough (which, by the way, was delicious! Most sweet treats can be stale or bland, these were unique and tasteful) followed by a delightful lights display at Canary Wharf called Connected by Light.
Happy sight seeing x
